Nurse-Managed Health Clinics

in

The health clinics have an interdisciplinary staff that provides both physical and mental health services. The support that the NMHC's receive from healthcare officials, third-party health insurance companies, policy makers, donor agencies, the news media, religious and community leaders, is critical to the sustainability of the clinics.

These Clinics Include:

  • NP Healthcare – Downtown Phoenix, located on the first floor of the Nursing and Health Innovation (NHI) building at 500 N. 3rd Street. Students, faculty and staff from any ASU campus, and the public, are able to access quality, affordable healthcare while studying or working in the Downtown Phoenix area.
  • NP Healthcare – Grace, based in central Phoenix, a few blocks north of the Downtown Phoenix campus, provides free or low-cost reproductive health services for adolescents and adults who do not have health insurance. Partnership with the AZ Family Planning Council and Grace Lutheran Church.
  • NP Healthcare – Scottsdale, is nationally recognized as one of the first primary healthcare clinics in the country to be directed and staffed by nurses.

Making a Difference

  • Each year the clinical staff mentors undergraduate and graduate ASU students in nursing and other majors, providing educational experiences from the exam room to the Board room.
  • The clinics bring healthcare to the clients in the neighborhood where they live. Clinics are located on a university campus, in a church, a community center, and in a historic business district.
  • Providing healthcare in community settings is cost-effective and reduces the use of emergency rooms for non-urgent needs.
  • Combined, the clinics reach hundreds of people each month, creating an environment that encourages community involvement among tomorrow's professional nurses.
  • Bilingual staff are available at each location.
  • The clinics serve as sites for faculty practice, research and clinical trials.
  • The clinics serve a diverse population that crosses all socio-economic levels. The staff are qualified, licensed healthcare professionals. They are members of insurance networks such as Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, United Health, RAN & AMN, Arizona Foundation for Medical Care, Medicare, TriCare, APIPA and Cigna.
