Nutrition Degree Programs

The Nutrition Programs offer undergraduate and graduate degree programs, as well as undergraduate minors. Each program contains carefully chosen curricula that provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the nutrition field.

Undergraduate Programs

Bachelor of Science in Nutrition

The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (BS) offers four concentration areas in Nutrition degree: Dietetics, Food and Nutrition Management, Human Nutrition, and Nutrition Communication.

Bachelor of Applied Science in Food
Service Management

The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree with a concentration in Food Service Management is a flexible degree plan designed to complement and enhance the educational preparation of students holding an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree from a community college. It is particularly aimed at those students with a specialty in culinary or hospitality science. The degree prepares students for careers in food production, service, management and marketing.

Undergraduate Minor Programs

The Nutrition Programs offer two undergraduate minors for any ASU student interested in learning more about food and nutrition management or human nutrition. Both require completion of specific coursework and a minimum of 18 departmental semester hours.

Graduate Programs

Master of Science, Human Nutrition

The Master of Science in Human Nutrition program at the College of Nursing and Health Innovation is based on the scientific foundations of nutrition, but also prepares students with strong writing skills, computer literacy, interpretive expertise, problem-solving skills and research experiences. The MS degree requires the completion of a minimum of 30 semester hours and a thesis.

Master of Science, Human Nutrition - Dietetics Concentration

The Master of Science in Human Nutrition, Dietetics Concentration at the College of Nursing and Health Innovation is a non-thesis option for registered dietitians (RDs) seeking to continue their education, advance their skills as practitioners, and achieve their career goals.  The MS in nutrition, dietetics concentration, requires students to complete 30 credits, including six credits of an applied project that focuses on the practice and science of dietetics.

Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Physical Activity, Nutrition and Wellness

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Physical Activity, Nutrition and Wellness is an interdisciplinary program that integrates graduate courses from several academic units to provide a sound foundation for research leading to a dissertation. The program focuses on issues that contribute to health through the reduction of disease risk, quality of life promotion, and enhancement of well being. While many healthy lifestyles are studied, the emphasis is on physically active living and sound nutrition.
