Sexual assault among military service members is associated with many harmful consequences, including the decision to leave the military. Associate Professor, Kelly Cue Davis, will work with a team of researchers to develop accessible and effective methods to prevent sexual assault among male and female service members. This study will refine a research-based, computerized sexual assault prevention program, originally designed for college students, to meet the needs of military members.
“Reducing sexual assault among service members is a significant national priority. Unfortunately, there are very few sexual assault prevention programs that have been rigorously evaluated for use in military populations. I am excited to work on this project with my colleagues across the country to adapt and refine our existing web-based sexual assault prevention program to meet the needs of our country’s service members,” said Dr. Davis.
Through this research, the team aims to tailor the intervention to address military sexual assault, with a long-term goal of ending sexual assault among service members and promoting the overall well-being of those who serve our country. This project is funded by the Department of Defense Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury Research Program for the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).
