CHPDP Fellow Selected for Competitive Public Health Training

- September 20, 2018
Dr Erica Soltero was selected to participate in the Physical Activity & Public Health training course at the University of South Carolina. The annual 10-day course was developed to impact public health by increasing the number of researchers and practitioners with expertise in physical activity and health in diverse settings and populations. Dr. Soltero was one of 25 applicants competitively selected after a rigorous review of her credentials, experience, and potential to enhance public health research and practice.
“This training program was a unique opportunity to receive invaluable teaching and mentorship from leaders in the field of physical activity,” stated Dr. Soltero. “As we learned about the seminal work that shaped this area of research, we also learned about current evidence gaps and how our research can fill those gaps to advance the field. It was a great opportunity to network with other early investigators who will be future collaborators!”
Dr. Soltero joins Dr. Rodney Joseph as the second CHPDP team member to participate in this prestigious training experience. Dr. Joseph completed the course as a postdoctoral fellow in 2016 and is now an Assistant Professor in the center.
