Charlotte Thrall

Biography
Charlotte Thrall is a 2012 DNP graduate at ASU CONHI, licensed as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her DNP project was related to Culturally Modified Education in Self-Management among Adult Latinos with Type 2 Diabetes.
Charlotte Thrall has years of clinical practice in both family practice and specialty Dermatology settings. After teaching in the DNP program at ASU for 5 years as adjunct faculty, Dr. Thrall accepted the position of Clinical Assistant Professor and Coordinator of the FNP specialty program in 2017.
Charlotte Thrall is Founder and President of Community Health Outreach 501(c)3, a local organization working to increase access to care among vulnerable populations. Among other community initiatives, Dr. Thrall is co-founder of HopeFest Phoenix, a direct care event serving 25,000 underserved individuals annually.

Service
Center for Hope in North Phoenix
Co-founder of Center for Hope- an initiative to connect resources to individuals in need within an environment of care and dignity. Center for Hope is an extension of HopeFest Phoenix, enabling multiple agencies and resources to work closely together in one location, increasing access and utilization of resources to increase sustainable independence among the working poor in our communities. Grand opening projected: March, 2020.
Love For Bukwo, Uganda 2019- Present
Development of hospital in rural Uganda, meeting critical healthcare needs with increased access to care among extremely vulnerable communities in eastern Uganda. On-site for hospital planning and grand opening in June, 2019. Established and launched HopeFest Uganda initiative.
Uncommon Giving, Advisory Board 2019-Present
Organization focused on connecting monetary resources to non-profit organizations who have been vetted for excellence in impact.
Healthcare for Syrian refugees in Mafraq, Jordan 2018-Present
Development of interprofessional team to provide direct patient care and targeted, culturally appropriate health education to refugees with few resources and no access to healthcare. Collaborative work with local faith community and NGOs. Anticipated travel June 2019.
Abounding Service 501(c)3, Board Member 2018-Present
Help refugees develop professional and interpersonal skills through English language acquisition. Volunteer as tutor, as well as involvement in all aspects of Board function.
Phoenix Rescue Mission 501(c)3 2018-Present
Mobilize the community to transform lives and end homelessness and addiction.
Volunteer consultant to CEO and Board in development of onsite primary care clinic within residential facilities. Objectives completed to date include: community assessment, feasibility study, business plan, building needs, and working budget.
CityServe Arizona 501(c)3, Board Member 2017-Present
Connect all sectors of Arizona to community needs. Includes investment and support in projects such as HopeFest Phoenix, School Connect, and Season of Service.
Central Arizona Mission of Mercy 2016-Present
Provide large scale dental services to those who do not have access to dental care. Over 1,800 individuals receive dental care during this annual event. Organize and assist in providing medical screenings and exams for this high- risk population prior to dental services.
Movement Day Arizona 2016-Present
Mission: Uniting the Church to serve our cities.
Train and organize over 100 churches and 800 individuals receive hands-on practical information on how to become directly involved in community change. Topics include foster care, refugee resettlement, immigration, sex trafficking, and urban development. Provide leadership through program development, community networking, and event day organization.
HopeFest Phoenix, Co-Founder and Director of Healthcare 2011-Present
Mission: To provide immediate and long-term assistance for the working poor of Maricopa County. Bring together all resources who invest in underserved communities. Oversee all aspects of healthcare during this annual event that serves up to 25,000 underserved individuals through the efforts of 200 resource agencies and 1500 volunteers.
Team of Physicians for Students 2011-Present
Promote the well-being of high school and college student athletes by providing free sports physical screenings, with cardiac testing, to students participating in interscholastic athletics or associated activities. Assist at the annual event, organizing the screening venue, and precepting DNP students from ASU.
Community Health Outreach 501(C)3, Founder and President 2005-Present
Invest in healthcare of underserved communities of urban Phoenix through
education, advocacy, and access to care. Oversee all areas, including Board development, vision, and intervention through direct care and program growth.
ASU Student Health, Outreach and Wellness 2014
Provided 12 months of start-up Mentorship for student teams and faculty towards community exposure, connection and outreach to homeless individuals through Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS). Consultant for initiation of student-led primary care clinic at CASS.
Streetlight Ministries, Healthcare Advisor 2010-2011
Onsight development of clinic and healthcare program for individuals rescued from sex trafficking.
The Neighborhood Christian Clinic, Founder of Diabetes Clinic 2004-2011
Partnership with TNCC for access to patient care for individuals and families in this urban community. Developed weekly, bilingual, individualized diabetes intervention for patients with uncontrolled Type 2 Diabetes. Directed 2011 on-site project that implemented “Culturally Competent Educational Interventions for Adult Latinos with Type 2 Diabetes”.
Neighborhood Ministries 501(c)3, Healthcare Consultant 1990-2009
Volunteered in all aspects of this urban ministry, including camp and weekly program nurse for 500 at-risk children. Developed Sunday morning children’s programs, and educational interventions and classes for homeless teenage parents.
International Relief:
Uganda and Kenya 2019
Consulted in development of hospital in rural eastern Uganda. Provided direct care on site, and implemented HopeFest Uganda- a 3 day direct healthcare services event as precursor to hospital’s opening day.
Jordan 2018
Provided direct primary care and health education to Syrian refugee families in Mafraq.
Haiti 2010 and 2014
Served in post-earthquake setting, organizing and assisting in amputation-corrective surgeries in Titanyen. Managed primary care in local clinic and orphanages in Port-au-Prince and Cite de Soleil.
Guatemala 2009
Provided nursing care in local primary care clinic in Quetzaltenango.
Honduras 2007
Provided urgent and primary care nursing in rural villages and local hospital in Siguatepeque.
Mexico 1989-2001
Multiple trips to various locations building houses and providing nursing care in urgent settings in Rocky Point, Ensenada, and Tijuana.
