Dean Chiarelli

Biography
Dean Chiarelli, MA, RDN, CEP, CHES, REHS is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation. His research interests are environmental health, food safety & protection, nutrition, physical activity, and healthy aging. Dean's focus is teaching. He reviews Federal grants, textbooks, publishers' instructional resources, and academic programs within the discipline of health sciences. In 2018, Dean and Dr. Carla J. Brown, Ph.D., MCHES co-authored a translational research book about healthy aging published by Shandong University of Science and Technology Press (Jinan, China). Before ASU, Dean was the Director of Health Promotion in Student Health Services at both Tulane University in New Orleans and University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He worked in the private sector as a Food Safety and Brand Standard Specialist for Ecosure™, a Division of Ecolab®. Within this capacity, he performed Quality Assurance Audits, for over 40 different national restaurant/ hotel corporations, across North America, and French Polynesia. He facilitated ServSafe® and ServSafe Alcohol® training classes, and coached Managers on the latest food safety & sanitation practices.
