Biography

Dr. Nuñez has been faculty at Arizona State University since 1997, serves as specialty coordinator in the Adult/Gerontology DNP program, is Director of the Rural Health Professions and AHEC Scholars Programs, and is currently interim Director of the DNP program.  A few of her research and funded projects include Nurse Practitioner Training in the Chronic Care Model through the AZ Alliance for Community Health Centers, the Arizona Rural Health Professions Traineeship Program, and a CDC project developed to address chronic disease disability prevention titled: A State Public Health Approach to Arthritis (USDHHS-CDC). She has presented locally, nationally, and internationally in the areas of teaching, curriculum development, academic practice partnerships, and community engagement. Dr. Nuñez has 25 years clinical experience in primary care, community residential care for treatment of eating disorders and coexisting conditions, and geriatric health promotion and wellness. In 2008, she was a Paul Ambrose Scholar at the Association for Prevention, Teaching, and Research (APTR) Leadership Institute, Washington DC. She currently practices with OPTUM Complex Patient Management and often precepts students in a variety of settings.
