Biography

Dr. Janet Pohl is a Nurse Scientist and an Assistant Professor at the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, Arizona State University. She has been awarded Postdoctoral Fellowships with the Center for Healthy and Resilient Aging at the Edson College and the Family Caregiving Institute at the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, University of California Davis. She is also a former de Tornyay Center for Healthy Aging Master Scholar and a former Myrene C. McAninch Doctoral Healthy Aging Scholar with the University of Washington School of Nursing. Dr. Pohl investigates the health implications of social connectedness across multiple caregiver generations and the various aspects of isolation, focusing on the conceptual definition and measurement of the social isolation construct for research and clinical assessment. This work has been the foundation for her current caregiver social isolation and loneliness intervention research.
