Susana received her BA in English from Columbia College Chicago. She is a first generation college graduate. She is also member of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, which enabled her to complete internships with the Centers for Disease and Control and Prevention in Atlanta and the United States Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. After graduation she worked for Chicago Public Schools teaching and organizing high school students and parents. Susana served as an AmeriCorps member for several low-income communities in Chicago including the south side of Chicago where she grew up. She later earned a Masters in Higher Education from Loyola University in Chicago and completed an internship at the University of California at Santa Cruz where she developed a co-curricular course in social justice for undergraduate students.   

More recently Susana has dedicated herself to supporting students seeking admission into medical, nursing, and other healthcare programs. In this capacity she has worked at Midwestern University in Glendale, AZ, the University of San Francisco and Arizona State University. At ASU she also supports first-generation students and their families by facilitating advising and orientation in both English and Spanish. Susana is bilingual and bicultural. The daughter of Mexican immigrants and holds dual citizenship with USA and Mexico. Susana is passionate about helping students achieve their goals and contribute to developing a diverse workforce.
