Biography

Shannon Ruff Dirksen (RN, PhD, FAAN) is an associate professor in the College of Nursing and Health Innovation at Arizona State University. She holds an associate membership with the University of Arizona Cancer Center and has been part of an active research collaboration with the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona with Dr. William Wong in Radiation Oncology (2010-2017). Previously, she held a joint appointment at the Phoenix VA Medical Center (2001-2015).

Her research interests include cancer survivorship, symptoms and symptom clusters, melanoma, breast and prostate cancer, quality of life, response shift, social support and search for meaning in illness. She's received awards for her books, research and teaching. Her R.N. license is active in Arizona and inactive in Western Australia, Washington, New Mexico.
