Under administrative direction of the Dean of the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, serves as the Edson Director for Nursing Academic-Practice Partnerships and includes the following responsibilities:


Develops, nurtures, and promotes sustainable academic-practice partnerships that includes and is not limited to

  • Master’s entry nursing student clinical placements with multiple community partners
  • Pre-licensure nursing student clinical placements in varied and diverse community settings
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice student clinical placements
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice student evidence-based projects

Collaborates with CONHI associate deans to advance a research agenda with community partners that includes

  • Collaborative research studies
  • Evidence-Based Practice initiatives
  • Grant support
  • Clinician-researcher training

Collaborates with CONHI program directors to promote student access and participation in the partnership model

  • Master of Science – Entry to Practice nursing students
  • Pre-licensure nursing students
  • Master of Science in Nursing students
  • PhD-DNP students
  • Post-doctoral fellows

Engages with faculty in innovation and entrepreneurial initiatives to foster learning activities and experiences for students, faculty, and community

  • Health Entrepreneur Accelerator Lab (HEALab)
  • Mayo Accelerator
  • Simulation Learning Resources
  • Collaborates with Internship Coordinator

Collaborates with the dean and director of business services to secure stability for academic- practice partnerships

This is a full-time fiscal year position as a Clinical Track Faculty (CTF) with an administrative appointment as the Edson Director of Nursing Academic-Practice Partnerships This is a 1-year appointment eligible for renewal. This position has no tenure implications.


  • Collaborates with Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, CONHI Program Directors and the Executive Leadership team.
  • Participates in Academic Program Director meetings
  • Provides effective verbal and written communication with students, staff, faculty, and community partners
  • Represents the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation across the University, locally, and nationally
  • Teaches courses as determined by the Dean and Associate Dean of Academic Affairs


  • Earned Doctorate in Nursing or a health-related field
  • Holds a current unencumbered RN license or multi-state privilege to practice in Arizona
  • At least five years Registered Nurse experience
  • Previous teaching experience in an academic or healthcare setting
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related administrative experience in coordinating academic or educational programs


  • Previous experience with academic-practice partnership development
  • Previous academic or healthcare program leadership experience
  • Previous management and supervisory experience
  • Experience with budget management
  • Experience with grant writing and funding
  • Experience with designing research studies and evidence-based practice projects
  • Experience managing, supervising, and evaluating students
  • Previous participation in strategic planning processes
    • Previous experience in planning, analyzing and coordinating activities and establishing priorities
    • Participation in program design and development
    • Skill in problem solving and decision-making
