Industry Collaboration

CRM / CRM Regulatory Science

We would like to invite you to consider sponsoring an internship, capstone or applied project to the ASU CRM/Regulatory Science Capstone/Applied Project courses, in which our talented students of senior graduates help you to solve unmet clinical needs. Our program solicits projects that are identified by individual physicians and companies in the clinical research space.
Our faculty collectively have 100 years of clinical research experience in multiple specialties. Faculty directly work with every student to guide the capstone/applied project process, and ensure the students produce excellent deliverables.

Submitting a project proposal to the ASU Capstone program is as simple as drafting a clinical needs statement. An example of a recent problem statement can be found on our website. Student(s) apply based on this problem statement. Student’s CV will be forwarded to the industry sponsor representative. Industry sponsors are encouraged to interview the student.  Industry sponsors serve as project advisers for the duration of the semester at a minimum commitment of one 30-60min meeting each week with the student(s). However, as a sponsor, you can be as actively involved as you wish!

Closely working with practicing industry representatives is critical to a successful project. This is a great opportunity to help develop a solution to problems you experience firsthand daily. Anyone can be a project adviser, as long as there is passion for innovation. Some repeat advisers simply love mentoring students, and guidance from industry representatives teaches the next generation of clinical research professionals the importance of the clinical, regulatory, and ethical perspective in trial design.

During the course of one semester (-3.5 months) the students will follow the course process laid out by instructors to ultimately assist in the capstone/applied project development.  The student(s)conduct discovery to fully understand the problem and establish the unmet needs, develop a methodology for investigation for deliverable development, and investigate intellectual property, if appropriate.

As a sponsor, one of the best value-added impacts to you is to have the opportunity to develop your idea sufficiently enough to generate intellectual property, verify the performance/value of deliverables, and assess the viability of your idea. While some projects do not continue, many sponsors elect to continue developing the idea through another Capstone/Applied Project, or develop the idea further in their own research program, utilizing the work of your Capstone student(s) as a foundation for further iteration, concept generation, and Research &Development.
We hope to work with you in future semesters!
