The world of politics, especially health policy, can often seem like a closed bubble – daunting, secluded and inaccessible. For professionals hoping to gain experience and connections in this field, it can be difficult to know where to begin. The Health Policy Academy (HPA) is designed to help decode and demystify the world of health policy. Participants in this program, regardless of past experience or training, will have the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the health policy sphere. Learn about the policy concerns underlying current issues, the political framework surrounding them and how to navigate the two as an effective advocate.

Two Program Options

HPA Online Program

Participants will have (12 month) access to a self-guided online course that will provide a foundation to health policy. The HPA online course links theory and concepts to real-world policy issues and current events. It is the aim of the course to equip you with tangible, practical skills to use in your own work as a policy advocate.

Program Cost
HPA charges participants $99 for the online program. This fee covers program expenses and curriculum content.

The HPA Online Program is a non-credit, non-degree program. Participants will receive a certificate confirming their completion at the end of the course.

Fall 2023 HPA Cohort Program

4 weeks total: 3 weeks of intensive online training and 3 days of immersion (via Zoom).

Participants will begin with three weeks of self-guided online modules. This content will provide a foundation in health policy: who is at the table, and what they do there. These concepts will then be applied during a three-day immersion, during which participants will meet and work directly with lawmakers, advocates, lobbyists and other health policy professionals to build their skills as effective health policy advocates. The interaction of the cohort is instrumental to this program and thus the program has structured dates for the immersion.

  • Online Self-Guided Modules
  • Online immersion with lawmakers, advocates, lobbyists and other health policy professionals
  • Dates TBD

Program Cost
HPA charges participants $1,500 for the four-week program. This fee covers program expenses, curriculum content and the online workshops. While scholarships are not currently available, we are happy to develop payment plans if needed.

The HPA Cohort Program is a non-credit, non-degree program. Participants will receive a certificate confirming their completion at the end of the immersion.
