CEP Orientation sessions for Fall 2020
Helpful Tip: Courses are set up with multiple faculty teaching the same course.
There is a designated course lead or course coordinator who manages and runs the course, such as answering questions in the community forum, posting course-wide announcements and updating course content. Each student is assigned a grading faculty for the course. The grading faculty is responsible for grading all assignments and providing constructive feedback, as well as answering emails from students, and providing support and resources as necessary. If you have a question specific to your grades, are needing an assignment extension, or need other support, you should reach out to your assigned faculty. This assigned faculty will send out an email introducing themselves at the beginning of the course, as well as weekly emails/announcements or videos to keep you on track in the course.
Keys to Success in the Online Learning Environment
It’s easy to get behind in an online course, so utilize the course schedule in each course to help you stay organized. Schedule time in your day to study, read the learning materials, and complete assignments. Review the syllabus to know the time requirements of each course.
Communicate often with your faculty about what support you need. If you need extensions, or have difficult circumstances, please reach out to your assigned faculty so they can provide support and resources.
Create a Community
Even though you are in an online environment and won’t see your classmates face to face, you can still create a learning community with your peers. Reach out in the community forum and create study groups or text message groups to support each other throughout this journey
Don’t be afraid to ask questions or seek clarification if something doesn’t make sense. Utilize the community forums if you have questions that others might have or would benefit from hearing. If it’s of a personal nature, reach out directly to your faculty.
Remember your End Goal
When life is stressful and overwhelming, remember that you are on a journey and this is just one step. Do you best with where you are at, and focus on the things you can control. Take it one assignment at a time, and keep that end goal (YOUR BSN!) in sight.
While staying on top of assignments is important, so is balance. Find one or two things that you enjoy doing and make sure you include those in your daily or weekly lives. Set aside time to “unplug” from the computer, even if it’s just for an hour.
