(Traditional BSN, Accelerated BSN, and Master’s Entry (MEPN)
Arizona State University Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation is seeking a full-time, non-tenure track Prelicensure Nursing Faculty at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor to teach in the Pre-Licensure Nursing Programs with a fiscal year (12-month) position. This is a 1-year appointment eligible for annual renewal. This position has no tenure implications. Responsibilities may include didactic, clinical, lab/experiential/simulation, and online teaching.
Expectations (based on qualifications for rank):
- Demonstrates expert knowledge in the field and the ability to transmit and extend that knowledge to students and others through dynamic, stimulating and creative strategies.
- Demonstrates the ability to develop critical, creative thinkers through continuous planning, analyses, evaluation and revision of courses and workshops.
- Demonstrates current knowledge in the field and sustained effectiveness in teaching in the classroom and clinical area.
- Teaches in a variety of environments, which may include classroom, clinical, laboratory (experiential/simulation), or distance/online.
- Teaches on multiple campus sites
- Develops, implements, and evaluates innovative teaching methods.
- Incorporates scholarly and creative activities into clinical practice and teaching.
- Participates in professional service through membership on elected, appointed, and voluntary committees in the college, university, community, and professional organizations that contribute to the Edson College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation, the individual as a professional and to higher education.
- Participates in appointed and voluntary activities that contribute to the college, university and community.
Responsibilities include and not limited to:
- Member of the Edson Academic Assembly
- Participates in faculty governance in Edson College and the University
- Mentors new and existing faculty in collaboration with the program director Evaluates student clinical performance
- Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication with students, Edson College and ASU faculty, clinical partner faculty and staff, and community partners
- Fosters current and new community partnerships with academic, clinical, and community-based organizations
- Supports and participates in Edson College Dean’s Strategic Initiatives
- Participates in implementation of the Edson College Strategic Plan
- Contributes to Edson 2026 Goals
Required Qualifications:
- Hold an earned graduate degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution, by time of appointment
- Holds a current unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse
- Eligible for RN license to practice nursing in Arizona. Must provide evidence/receipt of an Arizona or multi-state RN license to practice in Arizona prior to employment.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical/professional nursing experience
- Clinical experience or teaching experience in the areas of simulation, experiential, adult health, or specialty area within the past 3 years
- Prior to teaching a clinical course: Faculty must have: Department of Public Safety Level 1 Fingerprint clearance, current Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification, current immunizations, and ability to pass background clearance and drug screening as required per clinical agencies.
Desired Qualifications:
- Hold an earned Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution in nursing, healthcare or healthcare related, education, leadership or other applicable discipline
- 2 years of prior experience as a nurse educator in an academic educational setting.
- 2 years prior experience teaching in simulation and experiential courses
- Skill in problem solving and decision-making
- Demonstrated ability to mentor learners from varied backgrounds
- Experience developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders and community partners
- Experience managing, supervising, and evaluating students and preceptors
- Certified as a nurse educator
