Accelerated BSN Application for Advancement

The Accelerated BSN program is open to Postbaccalaureate applicants and first-degree seeking students who meet the additional requirements:

1) a minimum of 70 credit hours completed before the program begins in fall 2023
2) must complete all general studies and awareness areas before the program begins in fall 2023 (excluding upper-division Literacy and upper-division Humanities/Social Behavioral Science).

Postbaccalaureate applicants may also want to consider applying for MS Nursing (Entry to Nursing Practice) program.

Applicants are selected for the Accelerated BSN through the competitive application process based on an advancement score. The advancement score calculation is 50% Select GPA and 50% Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) score.

Postbaccalaureate applicants are given priority placement. Additionally, postbaccalaureate applicants who have completed a degree (or will complete a degree before the Accelerated BSN begins) in the following Edson College majors and meet the minimum eligibility criteria will be given preference for up to 50% of available seats in the Accelerated BSN each cycle: Community Health, Health Care Coordination, Health Care Compliance and Regulations, Health Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Integrative Health.

After all eligible postbaccalaureate applicants are placed, remaining spaces (if available) will be awarded first to Edson College’s first bachelor’s degree-seeking students and then to first bachelor’s degree-seeking students.

All items on the Application for Advancement must be completed for students to be considered for advancement to the Accelerated BSN.

Admissions and Transfer Coursework

Enrollment in Final Prerequisite Courses

If you have remaining prerequisites that you will be in progress, list them in the space provided. Include one course per line with course code, institution, credit hours, and end date. If all prerequisites are completed, please write “Complete”. Refer to the summer/fall 2023 Advancement Guide for prerequisite course deadlines.

Degree Verification

Provide your bachelor’s degree awarded, institution name, and the date degree conferred (e.g., Bachelor of Science in Biology, Northern Arizona University, December 12, 2022) OR write in ‘first degree-seeking applicant’.

Non-Academic Items Required for Advancement

Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)

Applicants are allowed one attempt at the TEAS per application cycle unless a failing score below 58.7% is earned. If a student earns less than 58.7% one retest is permitted, but the student must wait a minimum of 30 days between tests, and the second attempt must be on or before February 1, 2023.

I have contacted ATI Testing to request that the official transcript be sent to ASU; and I have confirmed that the official transcript has been received by the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation before the application deadline.

Health and Safety Requirements

Applicants must create a CastleBranch account by the advancement deadline of February 1, 2023. All items must be completed by March 1, 2023, except for the drug and alcohol screening, criminal background check, and statement of health clearance. Applicants who do not meet these stated deadlines will be considered late applicants and will only be placed if requirements are met and space is available.

Students identified for advancement or alternate status must complete the remaining health and safety requirements (drug and alcohol screening, criminal background check, and statement of health clearance) by April 2, 2023, to maintain eligibility.

Steps to Set Up CastleBranch Account and Submit Health and Safety Documents
1.   Visit CastleBranch’s website: https://mycb.castlebranch.com.
2.   Upper-right hand corner, enter the Package Code and select Go.
3.   Package Code: AH91im
4.   Review the information on the next page.
5.   Pay the $38 fee for the account/Medical Document Manager.
6.   Once you click continue, you will have access to submit documentation to your tracker. You can use the FAQ video library for assistance with common inquiries.
7.   Check your portal until CastleBranch accepts each documentation and marks it complete.

Converted Select GPA

I understand that it is highly recommended that my application is reviewed by an Edson College academic advisor before submitting it to ensure all items have been successfully submitted. If I decline to have my application materials reviewed before submission, I understand that my application will be withdrawn for missing/incomplete materials.

The anticipated timeline for notifying students of their advancement status is March 2023. Notification of advancement, and all other correspondence, will be sent via email. I am responsible to ensure proper access to my email account, and that it is accessed, read, and acted upon in a timely manner.

If I am selected to advance, or if I am selected as an alternate, I understand that Health and Safety requirements will be due April 2, 2023. I understand that if I do not meet the Health and Safety requirements by the deadline, my space in the program will be forfeited.

I understand that if I do not receive a confirmation e-mail after submission of my application, then my e-mail account is not set up. It is my responsibility to seek technical support to address e-mail issues. Furthermore, it is my responsibility to contact the advising office to request another confirmation e-mail.

I understand that if I advance to the nursing program, my clinical schedule will vary from semester to semester, and even within semesters. Additionally, because clinical placement isn’t determined until each semester begins, it is not possible for faculty or staff to inform students of their clinical schedule in advance. Clinical and classroom experiences may be scheduled during the daytime, evening, or on weekends seven days a week, and maybe for as long as 12-hour time periods. Due to the high demand for and limited supply of clinical practice experiences, I understand that flexibility in scheduling these learning experiences is expected and that the college cannot accommodate scheduling requests.
