Step 2: Review the Advancement Guide.
Advancement Guides are coming soon for spring 2026 and will be linked here once available.
There are two types of applicants for advancement - first–degree seeking applicants and postbaccalaureate applicants. Requirements vary by applicant type.
The advancement guides are located in Google Docs, which may display which user(s) are currently viewing the document. This will include your name and your email address if logged into your Google account. If you do not want your information to display when viewing the document, log out of your Google account first, and then open the document.
- First-degree applicants - Students who are working towards completion of their first bachelor’s degree and will not have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution when the spring 2026 clinical nursing program begins.
- Postbaccalaureate applicants - Students who have obtained or will obtain a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or accredited international institution before the clinical nursing program begins in spring 2026, and who are applying for an additional bachelor’s degree in nursing from ASU.
Step 3: Verify ASU admission and enrollment status.
You must be admitted to ASU as you will need to enter your ASU ID to submit the application. For questions regarding your admission status, you may call the help center at 1-855-278-5080.
It is also required for advancement that you are eligible for undergraduate enrollment for the term you plan to advance.
Step 4: Verify transcripts are received.
Verify that your official transcripts have been received and posted to your student account at ASU. This can be verified by viewing your DARS on My ASU.
Step 5: Complete the Course Information Worksheet (CIW).
- Competitive applicants - You must complete the Course Information Worksheet (CIW) before beginning your application. You will be required to attach it to your application. Instructions to complete the CIW are on the first tab of each Excel document. Note: You will need to use Microsoft Excel to complete this document. When submitting, only .xls and .xlsx file types are accepted. To download Microsoft Office 365, visit https://myapps.asu.edu.
- Course Information Worksheet - First Degree - Use this form if you are a first-degree applicant.
- Course Information Worksheet - Postbaccalaureate - Use this form if you are a postbaccalaureate applicant.
- Direct Admission students - You do not need to complete or upload a CIW to your advancement application. Continue to the next step.
Step 6: Review your application with an advisor.
The application must be completed in ONE attempt, and it is strongly recommended that you review your application items with an Edson College advisor before submission. The TEAS should be completed and on file with ASU before meeting with an advisor.
Please schedule an appointment with your assigned academic advisor, by going to your My ASU page, Academic Support Team box and click on the “Schedule an appointment” button.
You can also call 602-496-0888, option 4 to schedule an appointment.
Step 7: Review academic integrity policy.
Failure to provide accurate information on your application will be deemed a violation of the academic integrity policy which will result in forfeiture of your application. Review the Academic Integrity Policy.
Step 8: Check your email account.
You must ensure that your email account is set up properly, as this is the official channel of email communication. You may need to check your spam or junk email as our emails can be placed in those folders.

Step 10: Create your Complio account and submit health and safety documents.
Coming soon for spring 2026.
Along with submitting an advancement application, all applicants are required to create a Complio account and meet health and safety compliance requirements by the deadlines. Failure to do so may prevent your application from being considered for advancement or may cause your application to be withdrawn.
The advancement guides provide specific instructions on creating your Complio compliance tracker and details on how to meet each health and safety requirement. The checklist below can be used as a resource to guide your next steps, but it does not replace the advancement guides.
