Ceremony descriptions

Updates regarding all graduation events are sent directly to graduating students’ ASU emails and as notifications on their MyASU homepages. It is the student’s responsibility to check their accounts and be mindful of due dates associated with all ASU ceremonies and graduation processes.

Edson College Convocation

Convocation events, hosted by colleges, are celebrations of individual achievement where graduate names are called and graduates cross the stage. Edson College graduates completing their programs will join their peers, college leadership, faculty, staff, and guests in our event with all of the customary and celebratory elements of traditional convocation.

University Commencement Ceremonies

University Graduate and Undergraduate Commencement ceremonies are the university-wide ceremonies at which President Crow confers degrees.

At Graduate Commencement, doctoral graduates have their names read and cross the stage at Graduate Commencement. Master degree candidates will be announced by college, but not individually.

At Undergraduate Commencement, undergraduates are presented by college, but not individually.

Special Interest Celebrations

Celebrations are held by and for various student groups and are open to all graduating students. View the full list of Special Interest Celebrations on the ASU ceremonies website.

Convocation and Celebration times and locations are subject to change.

Next Steps for Graduates

Apply for graduation: Before Feb. 15

All graduating students, regardless of ceremony participation plans, must apply for graduation and pay the required fees. The priority deadline for application is Feb. 15 before additional late fees take affect. Students complete this process online by visiting MyASU and clicking the "Apply for Graduation" link in the My Programs & Advising box. They may also apply in-person or by mail.
