Doctoral Programs new

Take your career to the highest level with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation. Our DNP specializations and NP certifications cover nine different topic areas, preparing you to lead in a variety of unique health care settings. Whether you’re designing an intervention to improve pediatric outcomes in your hospital or implementing the latest best-practices in gerontology, these DNP specializations and NP certifications give you the tools you need to succeed in your career and advance health care.

All programs are offered in a hybrid iCourse and in-person format that requires students to travel to the Downtown Phoenix campus for up to a week for orientation at the beginning of the program and two or three times per semester. Edson College also offers a DNP/PhD concurrent enrollment program.

Diane Núñez (DNP, RN, ANP-BC) is the interim director for the Doctor of Nursing Practice program. Her research interests include older adult functional health, health promotion, behaviors in adults, strength training in the elderly, arthritis and rheumatic diseases, nutrition and cancer prevention, and fall prevention in the elderly. DNP Student Projects

By collaborating with nursing leaders, health care organizations and community groups, DNP projects exhibit the integration of new knowledge and expertise to improve outcomes through organizational/systems leadership, quality improvement processes, innovation and translation of evidence into practice. Past projects have included topics such as:

  • Depression care management for home health nurses.
  • Mindfulness to improve early childhood education.
  • Water safety education program for primary care providers.
  • Addressing obesity in Hispanic families.

The Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation prepares graduates for excellence upon entering the workplace. Since certification and licensure requirements vary by profession and from state-to-state, we recommend that you visit Professional Licensure   to determine the requirements of individual state licensures or national certifications.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice program and post-graduate APRN certificate programs at Arizona State University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education  .

As a participating National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA) member since May 5, 2015, Arizona State University is authorized to offer distance education to persons located in individual states in accordance with NC-SARA established policies and standards; program exceptions are noted on the ASU Authorizations website (https://asuonline.asu.edu/about-us/authorizations  ).  A program exception means that the listed programs are not available to students located within the state.
