The Department of Labor Grant for the Arizona Nursing Faculty Expansion Project has been awarded to Arizona State University’s Edson College of Nursing MS-NED program. As the DOL Grant Project Director, Dr. Heidi Sanborn will lead the program implementation and management throughout the duration of the grant. The input from all partners (Employer Partners, Education/Training provider, Workforce Development Entity, Worker Organizations, Optional Partners) to support learners and ensure program integrity is requested through participation in the Arizona Nursing Faculty Expansion Project (AZNFEP) Advisory Committee meetings. The AZNFEP Committee will meet two times per semester to discuss program curriculum and review services and any other opportunities the program can provide to our partners and students.
Overview
As a designated representative from your organization, you will participate in meetings that we envision to have more of a “focus group” approach related to specific areas of interest/expertise. AZNFEP Advisory Committee meetings will be held one time per semester with a Curriculum Committee sub-group also meeting one time per semester. The relevance of the topics will determine which meetings individual partners choose to attend. The intent of the AZNFEP Advisory Committee meetings will be to discuss the program goals and outcomes, focus on Partner needs determined by surveys and discussions, curriculum development and redesign (if necessary), recruitment of learners, support for clinical and practicum learning activities at partner sites, reporting of data, evaluation, addressing barriers and successes, and continuous improvement of the program. We also value feedback from you, our partner, regarding the services being offered as relevant to your needs.
Lynn Harris will serve as the Grant Coordinator. - [email protected] – She will be your direct Edson College point of contact and is ready to help as efficiently as possible should you have questions throughout the program. Her role will be data and document collection along with reporting to ensure the project outcomes are tracked, archived, and communicated to all stakeholders. In addition, she will be responsible for scheduling and managing advisory committee meetings.
We are looking forward to the opportunity to partner with you as we address the nursing workforce bottleneck that has restricted the number and diversity of nurses prepared to enter the country’s workforce and to provide access and opportunity for individuals from historically marginalized and underrepresented populations to prepare as nurse educators and make a significant positive impact on addressing health inequities.
