Clinical Nursing Advancement Application
Advancement applications are currently being accepted for spring 2025 for the Traditional BSN and Accelerated BSN clinical nursing programs.
Priority Deadline: September 1, 2024* (11:59 p.m.).
*When the deadline falls on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday) or a university holiday, the deadline will be the end of the next business day.
Applications submitted after the priority deadline will be reviewed on a space available basis. Interested students are urged to apply if all criteria will be met before the clinical nursing program starts.

Step 1: Workshops Available.

Step 2: Review the applicable Advancement Guide.
First-degree applicants are students who are working towards completion of their first bachelor’s degree and will not have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution when the spring 2025 clinical nursing program begins.
Postbaccalaureate applicants are students who have obtained or will obtain a bachelor’s degree from a U.S. regionally accredited institution or accredited international institution before the clinical nursing program begins in spring 2025, and who are applying for an additional bachelor’s degree in nursing from ASU.

Step 3: Check admission status.
You must be admitted to ASU as you will need to have an ASU Access ID to submit the application. For questions regarding your admission status, you may call the help center at 1-855-278-5080.
Step 4: Verify transcripts are received.
Verify that your official transcripts have been received and posted to your student file at ASU. This can be verified by viewing your DARS on My ASU.
Step 5: Complete the Course Information Worksheet (CIW).
Competitive applicants - You must complete the Course Information Worksheet (CIW) before you begin your application. You will be required to attach it to your application. Instructions to complete the CIW are on the first tab of each Excel document. Note: You will need to use Microsoft Excel to complete this document. When submitting, only .xls and .xlsx file types are accepted. To download Microsoft Office 365, visit https://myapps.asu.edu.

The CIW forms have been updated to reflect the new advancement requirements (effective for spring 2025 advancement). If you have previously reviewed advancement requirements with an advisor, you may have noticed changes to the CIW for spring 2025. Please consult with an Edson College advisor if you have questions.
Direct Admission students - You do not need to upload the CIW to your advancement application. Continue to the next step.
Step 6: Check and double-check your application.
The application must be completed in ONE attempt, and it is strongly recommended that you review your application items with an Edson College advisor before submission. The TEAS should be completed and on file with ASU before meeting with an advisor.
Please schedule an appointment with your assigned academic advisor, by going to your My ASU page, Academic Support Team box and click on the “Schedule an appointment” button.

Step 7: Review academic integrity policy.
Failure to provide accurate information on your application will be deemed a violation of the academic integrity policy which will result in forfeiture of your application. Review the Academic Integrity Policy.
Step 8: Check your email account.
You must ensure that your email account is set up properly, as this is the official channel of email communication. You may need to check your spam or junk email as our emails can be placed in those folders.

Step 10: Submit health and safety documents.
The advancement guides provide specific instructions on creating your Complio compliance tracker and details on how to meet each health and safety requirement. The checklist and videos linked below are to be used as a resource to guide your next steps, but it does not replace the advancement guides.
You should only create your compliance tracker after you submit the Clinical Nursing Advancement Application. If you are not ready to apply for the clinical nursing program, please do not set up your compliance tracker at this time.
Important Spring 2025 Health and Safety Deadlines:
- September 1, 2024: Applicants must set up a Complio compliance tracker using the instructions in the advancement guides.
- October 1, 2024: Applicants must complete all health and safety requirements except the following items: drug/alcohol screening, criminal background and statement of health clearance.
- October 21, 2024: (expected deadline, subject to change): Students selected for advancement or alternate status must complete the remaining health and safety items (i.e., drug/alcohol screening, criminal background check, and statement of health clearance).
