For more information about the clinical nursing program, please refer to the First Degree Guide and the Postbaccalaureate Guide. First-degree applicants are students who are working towards completion of their first bachelor’s degree and will not have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution when the summer/fall 2024 clinical nursing program begins. Postbaccalaureate applicants are students who have obtained or will obtain a bachelor’s degree from another U.S. regionally accredited institution or accredited international institution before the clinical nursing program begins in summer/fall 2024, and who are seeking to apply for a second bachelor’s degree from ASU. Traditional BSN Prelicensure Clinical Nursing Program The Traditional BSN is a full-time four-semester program requiring a total of 63 credit hours. Students complete 15-16 credit hours per semester, including theory, lab and clinical rotations. Applicants are considered via direct admission or the competitive application process. Accelerated BSN Prelicensure Clinical Nursing Program The Accelerated BSN is a 12-month, full-time program requiring a total of 50 credit hours over three consecutive terms (spring, summer, fall), including theory, lab and clinical rotations. Applicants are considered via the competitive application process. Must have a minimum of 70 credit hours completed before the program begins. Must complete all general studies (excluding upper-division Literacy and upper-division Humanities/Social Behavioral Science) before the program begins. Postbaccalaureate applicants should also apply for the MS Nursing (Entry to Nursing Practice) program. There are many settings in which nursing students gain experience — hospitals, nursing homes, public health and community agencies, private homes, school settings and clinics. Class and clinical schedules will vary from semester to semester, and even within semesters. Additionally, because clinical placement isn’t determined until each semester begins, faculty and staff will be unable to provide information about the clinical schedule in advance. Clinical and classroom experiences may be scheduled during the daytime, evening or on weekends seven days a week and maybe for as long as 12-hour time periods. Due to the high demand and limited supply of clinical practice experiences, we require flexibility in scheduling these learning experiences. It’s highly recommended that applicants review their application materials with an Edson College advisor before submission to ensure all items have been completed successfully. If a student earns less than 58.7% one retest is permitted, but the student must wait a minimum of 30 days between tests. I have Direct Admission status and opted NOT to take the TEAS. I have Direct Admission status and opted to take the TEAS between February 1, 2023 through February 1, 2024. I took the TEAS at ASU between February 1, 2023 through February 1, 2024. I took the TEAS outside of ASU between February 1, 2023 through February 1, 2024. Warning message ×By opting not to take the TEAS, direct admission students who do not meet Continuing Eligibility Criteria at the conclusion of the spring 2024 semester will not be eligible for consideration to maintain placement in the summer/fall 2024 clinical nursing program. We highly encourage all students to take the TEAS to potentially safeguard their placement in case they lose their direct admission status in the final semester of prerequisites. Should an advanced student lose their direct admission status and they have a TEAS score on file, an advancement score will be calculated to determine if they can maintain their summer/fall 2024 seat. Health and Safety Requirements Applicants must create a CastleBranch account by February 1, 2024. The requirements must be approved and completed in CastleBranch by March 1, 2024, except for the drug/alcohol screening, criminal background check and the statement of health clearance. Applicants who do not meet these stated deadlines will be considered “late applicants” and will only be advanced if requirements are met and space is available. Students identified for advancement and students with alternate status must complete the remaining health and safety requirements (i.e., drug/alcohol screening, criminal background check and statement of health clearance) by March 15, 2024 to maintain eligibility. I acknowledge that if I provided false information on this application, I may be withdrawn from the clinical nursing program at any time. I understand that only completed applications with all necessary documentation submitted by the deadlines will be considered for advancement. Academic Integrity: Failure to provide accurate information on your application will be deemed in violation of the academic integrity policy which will result in forfeiture of your application. https://provost.asu.edu/academic-integrity The anticipated timeline for notifying students of their advancement status is expected around March 8, 2024. It is my responsibility to seek technical support to address email issues. If I am selected to advance, or if I am selected as an alternate, I understand that Health and Safety requirements will be due by March 15. I understand that if I do not meet the health and safety requirements by the deadline, my space in the program will be forfeited. I understand that if I advance to the nursing program, my clinical schedule will vary from semester to semester, and even within semesters. Due to the high demand for and limited supply of clinical practice experiences, I understand that flexibility in scheduling these learning experiences is expected and that the college cannot accommodate scheduling requests.
