Traditional Prelicensure Clinical Nursing Application for Advancement

The Traditional BSN (TBSN) is intended for students working on their first bachelor’s degree. Applicants with a regionally accredited bachelor’s degree are expected to apply for the Accelerated BSN or the MS Nursing (Entry to Nursing Practice).

Advancement Pathways*

Students earn advancement into the Traditional program in two ways: through Direct Admission or the Competitive Application process. Students who are directly admitted into the nursing major must meet specific criteria each semester to maintain guaranteed advancement. After Direct Admission students are placed into the program, any remaining space will be offered to competitive applicants with the highest Advancement Scores who have not already earned a bachelor’s degree. In the event of an Advancement Score tie, admission will be determined by random selection.

Edson College first bachelor’s degree-seeking students may also apply to the Accelerated BSN cohort for the Downtown Phoenix campus. There are additional requirements and space is not guaranteed. If you would like to be considered for the Accelerated BSN program, you must submit an additional Accelerated BSN Advancement Application with the Gold Form.

Cohort Ranking

Indicate your cohort preference (Downtown Phoenix campus or West campus) by ranking the options below. You must select a first and second choice. Placement in your preferred cohort is not guaranteed.

Admissions and Transfer Coursework

If you have remaining prerequisites that you will be in progress in fall 2022, list them below. Include one course per line with course code, institution, credit hours, and end date (e.g., BIO 202, Mesa Community College, 4 units, ends 10/25/2022). If all prerequisites are completed, please write Completed. Final transcripts with grades posted must be on file with Arizona State University by December 12, 2022.

Non-Academic Items Required for Advancement

Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
Applicants are allowed one attempt at the TEAS per application cycle unless a failing score below 58.7% is earned. If a student earns less than 58.7% one retest is permitted, but the student must wait for a minimum of 30 days between tests, and the second attempt must be on or before August 31, 2022.
I have contacted ATI Testing to request that the official transcript be sent to ASU; and I have confirmed that the official transcript has been received by the Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation before the application deadline.

Health and Safety Requirements

If I am selected to advance or if I am placed on the alternate list, I understand that all of the following Health and Safety requirements will be due by October 16, 2022.

I understand that if I do not meet immunization/immunity and health information requirements upon request by October 16, 2022, my space in the program will be forfeited. I understand the importance of reading the requirements carefully and beginning the process early so that I am fully aware and prepared for the deadline.
